FAQ

What to expect?

At Yoga Tree, we constantly strive to exceed your expectations in order to make your stay the most enjoyable one. Our professionally trained instructors are always available prior and after class to assist you in developing your practice.

Every individual has unique needs, so we change the sequencing of the practice occasionally to concentrate more on a particular asana or ligament/ muscle group. This allows the body to improve the technique of various postures by working on different muscles/ligaments, and restore the body’s balance while keeping the practice challenging yet f

How is Yoga Tree's hot yoga different?

We focus on our student’s development. Our way of teaching is progressive, attentive, and easy to follow. Our series of postures is a comprehensive series of postures that benefits students both physically and mentally. The intensity of the class is adjusted through the class level.

Is Yoga a cardio workout?

Yes, it is. Yoga incorporates many challenging postures that sustain an elevated heart rate. Different yoga styles offer more of a cardio workout however you will still tone and activate your muscles.

What if I'm not flexible?

You don't have to be flexible to start yoga; the less flexible you are the greater improvement you will observe with a consistent yoga practice. The heated practice room allows tight muscles to stretch with greater ease.

Will I lose weight?

Yes you can. With regular practice students find their bodies becoming significantly trimmer and toned. Yoga is a healthy way to promote weight loss and detoxify the body. This is achieved through promoting an active lifestyle and not a fad diet.

When should I avoid doing hot yoga?

Hot Yoga is great for most people; however it is contraindicated under the following circumstances.

Pregnancy. Women in their first trimester of pregnancy, unless they have kept up a regular hot yoga practice for at least 6 months, are recommended to stay out of the heated room.

Heart Disease. Those suffering from severe heart disease that limits cardiovascular activity should consult their doctor about being in a heated environment.

Children. It is best that hot yoga is practiced only after the child's sweat glands have developed - usually around a girl's first menstruation or a boy's growth spurt.

What should I bring/wear? How long are the classes, and do I book in advance?

Bring a beach-size towel, water and yoga mat (Mats are also available for purchase, click here). Clothing that is light and comfortable is best. Since the aim is to sweat during the class, it is advisable to bring a change of top for after class. For more information about what to bring and how to prepare, click here.

We offer 60, 75 and 90 minutes long classes, please check the schedule for details. There is no need to register in advance however please arrive 20 mins before class. Late comers will not be permitted to enter once a class has started.

Can I do yoga during my period?

If you are menstruating, rest during your first two days of menstruating cycle. During the rest of your period, avoid practicing inverted poses such as headstands and shoulder stands.
