Debbie and Jason founded Yoga Tree in 2007 with the intention of sharing their passion for yoga and wellness with their community. They envisioned a vibrant community that would embrace yoga’s many lineages and benefits, hence the name Yoga Tree.

At 23, Debbie Fung and Jason Lu – partners in business and life – left their corporate jobs and applied for a small business loan to open their first studio in Thornhill. To make their dream possible, they built the studio from the ground up, doing most of the construction work themselves. As Yoga Tree Thornhill flourished with a team of dedicated staff, teachers, and yogis, it was only a matter of time before it was clear they needed to expand.

Since 2007, Yoga Tree has grown five strong branches: downtown at Richmond and Spadina, Yonge and Eglinton, Bay and Dundas, and in Richmond Hill and Vaughan (which replaced the original Thornhill studio.)

Yoga Tree has been named in BlogTO, Toronto Life, Toronto Star and Post City magazine as one of Toronto’s Best Yoga Studios and one of the fastest growing companies in Canada in 2016 by Canadian Business & Maclean’s Magazine.

Although Yoga Tree has grown in size and scale in the past 10 years, we continue to aim to be firmly rooted in our neighbourhoods, by supporting local charities and responding to the needs of our members and our communities.

Our Values

We welcome all lineages of yoga and create a supportive environment for everyone.
By cultivating the sense of awareness in our operations and actions we can create positive changes in our community.
Committed to the personal and mental growth of our team, community, and students.

We want you to feel valued when you practice at Yoga Tree, which is why we offer the variety of classes. No matter which of our studios you choose to practice at, we hope you feel the safe and comfortable environment we’ve created for yogis to learn and grow. We encourage you to connect with others before and after class at our luxurious tea station, and to take advantage of our teachers, workshops, and classes that will help you grow.

Between our regularly scheduled classes, workshops, guest teachers, and Yoga Teacher Training, we are always looking for new ways to engage our students and show our appreciation. Keep your eyes on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages for announcements about studio news, and to stay in touch with us between classes. Ask our Yoga Advisors about our Energy Exchange if you want to become involved in the studio, or about our OMGoodness program if you want to learn about our community partners. Let us help you make every visit to Yoga Tree studios as meaningful as it can be. See you at the studio!
