  • May 11, 2020
    Dear Yoga Tree Fam,

Since 2007, Yoga Tree has been a part of the local small business community and your continued support will help us get through this together stronger. We are adapting as we continue to grow our yoga offerings through different platforms and mediums.

As some provinces are gearing up to re-opening, we want to let you know we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure we have all safety measures in place prior to opening. Our priority is to ensure a safe and comfortable space for you to practice in and to welcome you back as soon as we’re able to do so.  Now, more than ever, we want to maintain open communication with our members, team, and communities and we look forward to sharing more information with you in the weeks ahead.  As soon as we get the all-clear to reopen, you’ll be the first to know.

For this week, we are excited to share with you more ways to practice with us with more classes now offered via ZOOM.

If you prefer to stream our videos anytime and anywhere, we are now offering a 7 day free trial on our Yoga On Demand. This is a limited time offer, start your trial today here

As always, the health of our community is our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to ask@yogatree.ca and we can help you out as soon as possible.

    March 15:
    Dear Yoga Tree Family:

In just a few short days, we have seen dramatic changes to our business as many businesses have. As a leadership group, we wanted to avoid making sudden decisions and reflect on what would be best for our business, our customers and our future.

After careful consideration and based on the government’s emphasis on social distancing, we will be closing all our studios until May 6th, at which time we will reevaluate the situation.

This decision is made with mixed emotions, but we know that the wellbeing of our members, instructors, and staff must take precedence here.

We understand that it is a stressful time and that your yoga class and your yoga community play an important role in relieving stress and anxiety. We are all here and in this together, figuring out what the most appropriate action is day by day with empathy, understanding, and compassion.

Take this time to practice at home, pause and reconnect with yourself. In the meantime we have three ways for members to stay connected:

    1) Yoga On-Demand – Access a library of yoga classes anytime at home, monthly subscription no contracts. New classes are added weekly, practice at home anytime!

  • Mat Storage Options?
  • To protect the health and safety of our staff, mats will only be available for pick when the studios re-open.

  • What is Yoga Tree doing to help with the current situation?
  • Yoga Tree has been closely monitoring the situation since late January when the first case was reported in Toronto.

Over the past weeks, Yoga Tree has taken many efforts to ensure our studios is a safe space for teachers, staff, and students to come and also work in. We have taken appropriate measures to ensure the well being of our community.

Medical grade HyperHEPA air purifiers have been added to every studio room.

Our cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been increased significantly. We strive to disinfect and wipe down commonly used surfaces, including door handles and handrails.

For the time being, we are eliminating the use of tokens , consent cards and props for our classes.

Finally, we are reducing the class capacity to increase social distancing due to public health concerns and we will continue to monitor and act diligently to ensure the safety of everyone.

After careful consideration and based on the government’s emphasis on social distancing, we will be closing all our studios until May 6th, at which we will reevaluate the situation.

  • What has Yoga Tree done to improve air quality at the studio?
  • Over the past weeks, Yoga Tree has taken many efforts to ensure our studios is a safe space for teachers, staff, and students to come and also work in. We have taken appropriate measures to ensure the well being of our community.

Medical grade HyperHEPA air purifiers have been added to every studio room.

    This includes:

    – Medical-Grade filter air purifiers have been added in each studio room to eliminate microscopic pollutants and bacteria. A combination of Sharp and IQ Air purifiers have been installed in each studio room.

    About our Air Purifiers

    Sharp Purifiers

Sharp purifiers produces Plasmacluster® ions which disperse throughout the room, actively attacking germs, bacteria, viruses, mould and fungus, reaching more than conventional filter-based systems.

    IQ Air Purifiers

IQ Air Purifiers uses proven Medical-Grade Air Filtration: 100x more effective than HEPA air purifiers. IQAir’s exclusive HyperHEPA filters stop ultrafine particles (down to 0.003 microns), stops the smallest particles that exist: 10x smaller than a virus.

  • Will there be hands-on adjustments in class?
  • We have asked that there will are no hands-on adjustments for the time being. Teachers will be using verbal adjustments to guide students.

  • What new cleaning procedures have been added for common areas, props and mats?
  • Increasing our cleaning protocols using products such as Benefect Botanical Spray, which has been found to be effective against viruses and kills over 99.9% of all germs.

Adding more Purell stands throughout our studios for your use. Your partnership in keeping our space safe is important, and you’re encouraged to use the anti-bacterial Benefect mat spray that is provided to wipe down yoga mats and props before and after you use them.

Rental mats will be disinfected with Benefect and a complementary towel will be provided to place over the towel.

We clean our props frequently as it is a shared item amongst our community. In fact, our pinewood yoga blocks also have natural antibacterial properties. However, due to growing public concerns, we are also encouraging propless classes to reduce the need to touch shared surfaces. Eye pillows usage will also be suspended until further notice.

Floors will be constantly maintained and cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant Liquid which is a concentrated antiseptic solution.

  • Where are the tea cups? What happened to the complimentary tea or infused water?
  • In order to reduce the high volume of common areas, we have removed tea stations and infused water for the time being. We’ve also removed the tea cups to reduce the amount of communal items in the studio. We encourage our community to use their own personal water bottles. If you do not have a water bottle on hand, we have Flow Water available for purchase at the Front Desk.

  • What happened to the use of tokens and adjustment consent cards?
  • We are reducing the amount of non essential communal items in the studio. Members will continue to sign in at the Front Desk and attend class as usual. Instructors will confer with Front Desk Advisors for attendance accuracy instead of tokens.

  • What about Class Capacity?
  • We have reduced class capacity to be mindful of the social distancing that is recommended.  The reduced class capacity will create more space between students. Please be sure to reserve a spot in advance for the class you wish to attend.

  • Am I okay to take a class at the studio?
  • Out of consideration to those in our community, we ask that you stay at home for at least two weeks after travelling. If you are experiencing any symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or are for any reason concerned being out in public spaces, we suggest waiting 14 days before visiting the studio.

  • Is Yoga Tree closing?
  • Our studios have been closed since March 15th, 2020 due to government-mandated order and to ensure the safety of everyone in our community.

As some provinces are gearing up to re-opening, we want to let you know we are working hard behind the scene to ensure we have all safety measures in place prior to opening. Our priority is to ensure a safe and comfortable space for you to practice in and to welcome you back as soon as we’re able to do so. As soon as we get the all-clear to reopen, you’ll be the first to know.

  • What can you do to help boost your immune system?
  • Boost your immune system. Now more than ever, it’s essential to prioritize our health and well-being and do all you can to boost your immune system so you’re as healthy as possible, in the event you encounter this virus. Research shows that sustaining healthy habits supports immunity and can help prepare our bodies to better fight and recover from illnesses, including coronavirus. These include:

    • Stick to a nutrient-dense, toxin-free diet, including known immune-supportive foods like garlic and ginger. Avoid foods that tend to weaken the immune system, such as sugar, refined grains, industrial vegetable oils, and processed and refined foods, as much as you can.
    • Get plenty of sleep, ideally seven to eight hours a night. This is your body’s time to perform preventive maintenance, which bolsters the immune system. Research shows that repeatedly short-changing sleep by even an hour or two can negatively affect immunity.
    • Get plenty of sunshine and supplemental vitamin D + K2. High levels of vitamin D have long been linked to lower rates of illness.
    • Consider taking additional vitamins, micronutrients, and supplements to support immunity, such as a high-quality multivitamin, magnesium, omega-3 fish oils, vitamin C, elderberry, and digestive enzymes. Probiotics and powdered greens have also been shown to support immune and gut health.
    • Get at least 20 minutes of low- to moderate-intensity exercise a day to prime the immune system. This movement results in the production of more white blood cells, which combat bacteria and viruses, and promotes improved circulation.
    • Wash your hands frequently, and for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water to protect yourself and others from germs.
    • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Keep your hands away from your face, because germs routinely spread when a person touches something contaminated with germs, and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
    • If you begin to develop cold- and flu-like symptoms or become ill, take care of yourself and minimize the spread to others by staying home. If you think you may have symptoms of coronavirus call your healthcare provider immediately.
