Happy Father’s Day!

We tend to make a huge fuss over Mother’s Day. This past year, you couldn’t walk past a single store window without seeing an advertisement for the day in question. Everyone was buying flowers, cards, gifts, and accessories for their mothers with such zeal that some of the shops ran out of stock. The entire world made sure that no one forgot about Mother’s Day. But what about the OTHER very important, parental day?

Of course, I am referring to Father’s Day. It’s sometimes surprising that this holiday doesn’t get as much publicity. It goes without saying that it is just as important to honor your father as it is your mother (after all, it took two of them to bring you into this world!) Though a celebration with family may be part of the deal, it is equally vital to pause and reflect on what a father means to us.

Mother is the one who gave birth to us, but Father is the one who held her hand. Mother nourishes the baby, and Father is the one to help hold you when she is weary. While Mother is the one to heal the scrapes and bruises we get as children, Father is the one who picks us up when we fall. Mother is the one to teach us our beginnings, and Father is the one to help improve on our knowledge. There are so many things that we can learn from our fathers, and every day, they give us more and more reason to be proud!

At Yoga Tree, we celebrated with giving dad a free class at any of our locations. It was wonderful to see so many people bring their dads in to experience yoga; some for the first time, and some for the fiftieth time! There was a sense of family and community in our studios that was humbling to witness, and we are overjoyed that so many of you chose to spend part of your Father’s Day with us! From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!

We hope that you all got to celebrate the rest of Father’s Day with those that you love the most. To all the fathers out there, we hope that this past Father’s Day has bee a memorable and cherished one. We never forget all that you have done for us, and thank you for the lessons and patience that we receive from you every day of our lives!

Namaste!
