Up-coming Open Houses
June 3rd, 2017 – Vaughan 10:30am
July 30, 2017 – Yonge Eglinton 10:30am
To deepen their education, our yoga teachers-in-training will study functional anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy, asana, pranayama, and meditation. Yoga Tree’s teaching philosophy is based on three disciplinary lineages: Classical Hatha, Ashtanga and Hot Yoga. Upon graduation, students are eligible for a Yoga Alliance certificate, and are equipped to teach yoga in both heated and non-heated environments.
Yoga Teaching Mentorship Program
Teach What You Know. Know What You Teach.
Yoga Tree’s 40 hour Yoga Teaching Mentorship Program
So you finished your first 200 hour yoga teacher training. Now what? You feel the gap between knowing how to teach yoga and actually teaching yoga. How do you take the knowledge gained about the deep world of yoga and apply it to the even deeper world of teaching?
Ask for help.
The Yoga Tree Mentorship Program is a 40 hour intensive created to close the gap between teacher training and actually teaching. By assigning you to a mentor teacher to shadow and assist in class you will gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively guide students and “hold space” for others. In class hours will include assignments created to connect you to your authentic teaching voice, a review of the art of sequencing, deeper knowledge of safe hands on adjustments, and a demystification of the business of yoga.
Teacher Training FAQ
Not necessarily. We recommend that you have at least 6 months worth of consistent yoga practice under your belt before considering our Teacher Training. However, we do not require you to be able to do any specific posture: no full splits or handstands required! Everyone will start this process in a different place, and it is important that we be able to focus on where you are in the present moment. To make sure our teaching style is right for you, we recommend you attend a Teacher Training Open House.
Yoga Tree’s teacher training philosophy stems from three yoga traditions: Hatha, Asthanga, and Hot Yoga. Upon graduating from the program, students will have developed a personal teaching style, and comfort and ability teaching hot and non-heated Hatha-style classes. You will also gain familiarity with other styles such as restorative and yin, where you can choose to expand your knowledge later on.
Each day will include a physical yoga practice – so be prepared to move! Expect to be welcomed into a safe environment, and to let go of your fears from day one. Each day of your training will have a different focus taught by a core of senior teachers and rotating guest teachers sharing specific knowledge. You will enjoy intense days of training with a supportive and energetic group of people.
Come for the quality instruction, stay for the community! As a Yoga Tree teacher-in-training, you will have access to our knowledgeable senior instructors and approachable mentors to help you learn. As part of your training, you will have unlimited access to over 2,000 classes per month offered through our studios, offering you a supportive and nurturing space to grow your yoga and teaching practices.
