5,000 Years in the Making: Why Yoga and Acupuncture Make a Perfect Pair

Acupuncture session Yoga Tree & Nexus

Like peanut butter and jelly, some things just go well together. For us yoga enthusiasts, it would have to be yoga and acupuncture. Both practices stimulate the flow of energy (called ‘Prana’ in yoga, and ‘Qi’ in acupuncture) to promote health and wellness. These two different approaches are not only fantastic for clearing out energy blockages, but are so complementary- especially when you follow your yoga class with an acupuncture session.

Acupuncture works with the premise that our body has 12 energetic pathways, called Meridians. When the flow becomes blocked because of stress or injury, it can cause pain, fatigue, overeating, skin conditions, and emotional instability – just to name a few. Acupuncture aims to restore flow by activating the meridians and restoring physical balance.

From a yoga perspective, Prana is about activating energy for physical, mental and spiritual balance. An abundance of Prana comes with an overall feeling of relaxation and prevents stress-related illness. While the Meridians are like electrical wires running through your body that need to keep the electricity flowing, Prana is like the power that keeps the lights on.

Needless to say, following a yoga practice with acupuncture can be an excellent way to speed recovery, increase mental clarity, and enhance relaxation and circulation. In addition, yoga poses can also enhance acupuncture by stimulating different Meridians.

To promote this 5,000-year-old symbiotic relationship, Yoga Tree is excited to announce Nexus Massage and Rehab as one of our OMGoodness partners. Until the end of April 2019, Nexus is offering all active Yoga Tree members a 1-time complimentary acupuncture session (up to 30 minutes) after a yoga class to promote further relaxation and calmness.

In addition, all members who take advantage of the complimentary acupuncture session will receive $20 off their initial assessment with the acupuncturist if they wish to continue.

In order to activate this OMGoodness perk, Yoga Tree members must call Nexus and book their appointment at least 1 day before and present their Yoga Tree key tag upon arrival.

We’re thrilled to partner with Nexus to offer our members an opportunity to enhance their yoga practice with a complimentary acupuncture session! Again, this offer is only available until the end of April, so we recommend you call and book your session as soon as possible. And, of course, share with us on social what you thought about it and tag @YogaTreeStudios in your Instastory or Tweet!
